Can you believe seven “Tire Kicker’s” tours are under our belt? Seems like yesterday Wes and I were bickering our way around town, plotting the route between the take-off point and the all-
important lunch stop. And yes, they have gotten much easier and with far less squabbling – really!
We had a great turn out and we appreciate everyone who came out in the iffy weather, in their pre- and post- 16’s. The weather held, though at times we wondered, but we had sent up a prayer
to our weather-god, Mr. Eastwood, and were pretty confident we’d make it through the day without too many droplets . . . thanks Doug!
A garage tour isn’t a garage tour without garages and we’d like to express our thanks to Gerry & Barbara Hosterman for sharing their wonderful new garage. We all enjoyed watching the boys
playing with the do-nothing engines and it was great fun hearing Barbara & Gerry’s love story. Wonderful first stop, the johnny-come-lately donuts weren’t half bad either. For those of you who
missed out on the fantastic apple-fritters, our apologies – they we phenomenal.
From the Hosterman’s we toured through Altadena over to the Valenzuela’s hacienda. This stop was wonderful too. Sandy and Bob have some really wonderful Woody’s and the sign
memorabilia was lusted after by all.
From the Valenzuela’s we traveled across town to Sig and Toni Caswell’s home. As ever, they were wonderful hosts and the garages brought back some special memories. I remember when Wes
and I were first married going over to the Caswell’s and I was mesmorized by their collectibles – well things haven’t changed much, the collections are still there, but I think there might be a few
more cool things to look at.
The Caswell’s home was the last stop on our tour and some of the folks split for home (I presume in an effort to avoid the impending rain) and others hightailed it over to the Northwoods Inn for
another chance to eat and chat.
Our touring friends included Mike (without a cast) and Linda Boisclair who shared the Red T with us; Frank, Dorothy Bristing and Janna Frymark, Dick & Janis Jones, Warren & Phunnee Record,
Steve & Dawn Kellogg, Rob Stewart, Harry & Helga Mycroft, Sandee Kidd, Gary & Sheryl Hunter (members of the Red T club), Jim & Dina Kroeger (with their Aunt in the back seat), Lisa & Ray
Hughes, Jim Canstanza, Howard Henkels and friend, Loren & Lo Burch, Sig & Toni Caswell, Carol & Baxter Williams, Barbara & Gerry Hosterman, Joyce and Chuck White, Dick Olerich, Don
Berube, Kenny King, Oilin & Leonard Briggs, Rick Arnold, Don Birchall and his lovely friend Jenny, Tom Gunther, Gregg Ruggles, Red and Laurie Ladner, and Alex Trepanier.
As we said in the touring directions, and say again, this year’s tour was dedicated to those who will no longer be touring with us and who will be sorely missed . . . Charmayes Bugh, Grant Burns,
Tom Powels and John Walgamott.
